Recipe Item Setup - Recipe Item Groups

Overview:

There are multiple tabs on the Recipe Item setup feature. The explanations for each tab are somewhat lengthy so individual articles exist for the tabs in the Recipe Item Setup feature.  This article covers the tabs for "Recipe Item Groups", "Recipe Items", and "Assigned to Sites".

Things to know!

  • A Recipe Item can optionally be assigned to one or more Recipe Item Groups.
  • You must be logged into a Site in order to see the tab for group assignments.
  • A Recipe Group is utilized to put "like" recipe items in a common group for viewing, reporting, or transaction entry reasons.
  • Recipe Item Groups are set up via Recipes & Sales>Setup>Recipe Groups.
  • Please use this link for more information on Recipe Groups.

Recipe Item Setup - Recipe Item Groups Tab:

The use of Recipe Item Groups is optional in COGS-Well. Groups enable you to group "like" items together. The most common reasons for creating groups and assigning recipe items to groups are for reporting, viewing, or transaction entry of like recipe items.

One recipe Item can be assigned to multiple Recipe Groups. For example, you could assign an item to a Recipe Group used for reporting and to a different recipe group used for transaction entry. Let's select the Recipe Item "Recipe Item Groups" tab for a Recipe Item:

Available and Selected: In the above Dual List Box, listed under the available column are all the Groups that are available to be assigned to this recipe Item, but have not been assigned. Listed under the selected column are all the groups that have been assigned to this recipe Item.

To move a group from one selection to another, check the box by the group or groups you want to move and then hit the arrow direction < or > that you want to move them to. You can also double-click on a group to move it from one column to another.

In the above example, the Breakfast Gravy Recipe Item is been assigned to a Recipe Item Group called Prepared Items. This was done so all prepared items could be viewed or reported on when desired. A Group example for recipe items that are sold (Sales Items) might be a Recipe Group called "Entrees". Groups are set up in Recipes & Sales > Setup > Recipe Groups.

Save, Delete, and Exit:

At the bottom of the screen are the Save, Delete, and Exit buttons.

Save - Saves the entry or entries without exiting.

Delete - Deletes the Item. You will be asked, "Are you sure"?

Exit -  Exits without saving any new entries or edits.
