Cost of Sales Comparison Report

Overview:

The Cost of Sales Comparison Report enables you to compare Theoretical and Actual costs and usage for items between 2 date ranges, 2 sites, or both.  An example of the report is shown below:

Things to know!

  • This report enables a comparison of theoretical and actual costs and usage between 2 date ranges, 2 sites, or both. 
  • This report will only be accessible and visible to users who are given access to this report function. 
  • A POS interface is required to capture the sales used in this report.
  • This report runs for a selected date range between two Inventory Count dates. Count dates are needed so that actual usage can be calculated. 
  • Sales & Cost Classes must already be configured if you want to run this report. Please see this link on Sales & Cost Class Setup for more information.

Report Parameters

To run a Cost of Sales Comparison Report, use the Sidebar to navigate to the Cost of Sales Reports menu option and then select the COS Comparison Report from the submenu. Upon selection, a Report Parameters screen like the one below will display:

This report can be used to compare the same Site or Sites over two different date ranges, or it can be used to compare two different sites over the same, or different, date ranges. 

Site 1: You can use the drop-down to select a specific site. If you do not select a specific site then all sites will be consolidated in the report. 

Begin Count Date 1: From the drop-down calendar, select a date for the starting inventory count. 

End Count Date 1: From the drop-down calendar, select a date for the ending inventory count. 

Site 2: You can use the drop-down to select a specific site. If you do not select a specific site then all sites will be consolidated in the report. 

Begin Count Date 2: From the drop-down calendar, select a date for the starting inventory count. 

End Count Date 2: From the drop-down calendar, select a date for the ending inventory count. 

Price Type: You can use the drop-down to select the average, retail, or model price for menu items on this report.

Run Report: Once you have selected your report parameters, click the Run Report button to list the report.

Cost of Sales Comparison Report:

Selecting to Run the Report with the detail selected will display a report similar to the one below:  

The Cost of Sales Comparison Report will look different based on the report parameters selected. In the above example, we are comparing the same Site (Jake's Cafe & Catering) for two different periods (date ranges). The changes (Differences) are reported in the last four columns.
