Use Mass Edit for Inventory Item Changes

Overview:

When you want to view or make changes to multiple inventory items, the Mass Edit Inventory Items feature provides a fast and easy way to do so. The Inventory Item Setup feature can only change a single inventory item at a time, but the Mass Edit Inventory Items feature uses a "grid" that enables you to view and edit multiple inventory items simultaneously.

Use this link for the full article on Mass Edit Inventory Items.  Below is an example of how a grid display is used to allow for viewing and editing multiple items. The grid includes special tools for making changes to multiple items even faster:

The Mass Edit grid image above is only showing the first 9 columns for each Inventory Item. Additional columns can be accessed by scrolling to the right.  The tools at the top right of the gride allow changes such as "Category" or "Count When" to be made to multiple selected items at the same time. The items displayed on the grid can be sorted by an alpha search for some columns or filtered for specific attributes like the Category Type or GL Account for other columns.

Please note that a Snippet displays for each item as it is highlighted if Plate IQ is utilized (Buttermilk is highlighted above). The full invoice image (as shown below) is available for items from any source other than EDI. Use this link for the full article on Mass Edit Inventory Items.

Count Unit Name Changes:

COGS-Well automatically assigns Pack Sizes, Count Units, and Recipe Units to new Inventory Items based on the Vendor's Pack Size Description that is imported from the invoice. This automated process is accomplished by using a Standard Packaging Definitions ("SPD") library. Generic Count Unit names such as "Each" are frequently utilized as the Count Unit name in SPDs. Many customers, therefore, use Mass Edit Inventory Items to change the Count Unit names for items to be more specific such as "Bottle" or "Can".

Below is an example of the grid with the Count Unit Name column on the display. You can click on the drop-down for the Count Name on each item to search and select a new Count Unit Name.

In the above example, we want to change the Count Unit Name for 3-1 Round Beef Patty from the generic name of "Each" to a more specific name of "Patty". By clicking on the drop-down next to Each, we can invoke a search and select to change the Count Unit name we prefer as shown below:
